Put IPTV on your Amazon Fire TV Stick
On a Fire TV Stick the job splits in two. You first use the Downloader app and code 1171959 to install IBO Player, and then you activate that app with its MAC address so it knows your IPTVnu subscription. Plan on about a quarter of an hour, with your phone next to you.
Have this ready
None of this costs money except your subscription. Downloader comes from the official Amazon Appstore.
- A Fire TV Stick or Fire TV Cube that is connected to the internet
- The remote that came with it
- Downloader, a free app in the Amazon Appstore
- Our WhatsApp message with your server URL, username and password
- Your phone or a computer, for the activation on iboplayer.com
From Downloader to your first channel
Step 2 is the one people skip. Without it, Fire TV refuses to install and doesn't really tell you why.
Get Downloader from the Amazon Appstore
Use the search on your Fire TV Stick to find Downloader in the Amazon Appstore and install it. It is a free app from the official store whose only job is to fetch files onto the stick.
Give Downloader permission to install apps
Open the Fire TV settings, go to the device options and then the developer options. Switch on 'Apps from Unknown Sources' for Downloader. If you skip this, Downloader can fetch the file but is not allowed to install it.
Type code 1171959 into Downloader
Start Downloader. On its home screen you will see an input box: enter 1171959 and confirm. Downloader now downloads the installation file for IBO Player.
Install the file
When the download is done, Fire TV asks whether you want to install it. Choose install. Afterwards, Downloader may offer to delete the installation file. Say yes, because the stick has little storage to spare.
Open IBO Player and activate it from your phone
Launch IBO Player on the stick and note the MAC address and Device Key on its start screen. On your phone, go to iboplayer.com/device/login, enter both codes and add your IPTVnu details as an Xtream Codes playlist. Finish by restarting the app on the stick.
Why the detour through Downloader?
Most apps install straight from the store, so it is fair to ask.
Amazon keeps its Appstore small, and what you can find there depends on your country. Player apps for IPTV are often missing. Because Fire TV is built on Android, Amazon does let you install apps yourself, and Downloader is the tool for that.
The permission from step 2 is given to one app at a time. You are allowing Downloader to install files, and nothing else on the stick gets that right. That is also why turning it on for another app does not help.
Would you rather skip this and just use a store? On an Android TV box the Play Store usually has more to choose from.
Fire TV Stick problems and fixes
Five things that happen on a Firestick more than on other devices.
Fire TV says 'App not installed'
There are two usual reasons. The stick may be out of storage, so delete an app you never open and try again. Or an older copy of the app is still on the stick, in which case uninstall that first and then install the new file.
Downloader is blocked from installing
The unknown-sources switch is set per app. If you turned it on for a different app, Downloader still has no permission. Go back to step 2 and make sure the switch next to Downloader itself is on.
The stick feels hot and the picture starts to stutter
Behind a TV, the HDMI port can get warm, and a warm stick slows itself down during a long evening of watching. Use the short HDMI extension cable from the box so the stick hangs free, and power it from its own adapter, not from a USB port on the TV.
Storage fills up again and again
Fire TV Sticks don't have much room, and Downloader keeps every file you fetch. Empty the downloads folder inside Downloader and uninstall apps you don't use. For live TV you only need a few apps on the stick.
The app is installed, yet the picture keeps stuttering
A Fire TV Stick has no network port, so it relies on Wi-Fi unless you add an ethernet adapter. Bring the router and the stick closer together to see if range is the problem, then go through our guide on fixing IPTV buffering.
