IPTV on your iPhone or iPad
An iPhone or iPad is the quickest way to see your subscription working: one app from the App Store, your login, and a few minutes later you have a picture. AirPlay then takes it to the big screen. Watch out for two iOS settings that quietly end a stream.
Have this ready
Apps on iOS only come from the App Store. That keeps things simple, but there is less to choose from than on Android.
- An iPhone or iPad with an up-to-date version of iOS or iPadOS
- A player from the App Store: IBO Player or IPTV Smarters Pro
- Our WhatsApp message with your server URL, username and password
- For the TV: an Apple TV or a TV with AirPlay, on the same Wi-Fi network
Five steps on iOS
Step 5 is only for watching on the TV. If you watch on the phone or tablet, you're done after step 4.
Get a player from the App Store
Look up IBO Player or IPTV Smarters Pro in the App Store and install one of them. iOS doesn't let you install apps from anywhere else, so the App Store is the only option. If one app is not available in your country, take the other.
Choose Xtream Codes as the login method
Open the app and pick the Xtream Codes login, not the M3U link. In IBO Player, first copy the MAC address and Device Key it shows and activate the device at iboplayer.com/device/login.
Fill in your IPTVnu login
Enter the server URL, username and password from our WhatsApp message. iOS autocorrect likes to turn the first lowercase letter into a capital, so if the login fails, switch autocorrect off for a moment and type it again.
Stay in the app until the list is loaded
Keep the app open while it loads; the first time takes thirty to sixty seconds. If you jump to another app halfway, iOS pauses the loading and some categories stay empty.
Put it on the TV with AirPlay
Start a channel and tap the AirPlay icon in the player, then choose your Apple TV or AirPlay TV. Is there no AirPlay button in the app? Use Screen Mirroring from the iOS Control Centre.
The two iOS settings that end streams
A stream that stops on an iPhone for no clear reason is nearly always caused by one of these.
Low Power Mode. iOS can turn it on by itself when the battery gets low. It limits network use and background work, and a live stream is exactly that kind of work. You end up with a picture that stops after a few minutes without any error. Switch Low Power Mode off while you watch, or keep the device charging.
Apps paused in the background. Leave the app and iOS pauses the video; leave it long enough and iOS closes the app. If you switch away while the channel list is loading, it will be incomplete when you return. Wait in the app until loading is done.
Getting it on the TV: AirPlay or an app on the TV
AirPlay works, but for live TV it is not the strongest option.
With AirPlay, the phone receives the stream and passes it on to the TV. Your Wi-Fi carries the same picture twice, and the phone has to stay on and busy the whole time. Fine for a quick look; less solid for a full evening.
Watching on the TV regularly? Install the player on the TV side instead, for example on a Samsung or LG Smart TV, an Apple TV or a Fire TV Stick. The same login works on all of them.
iPhone and iPad problems and fixes
Worth checking before you message us.
Playback stops when I open another app
iOS does this by design: video pauses as soon as an app goes to the background. A few players have a background playback setting. If yours doesn't, there is no workaround.
The stream stalls even though the Wi-Fi is fine
See whether Low Power Mode is on. It cuts back network activity and ends long streams, so switch it off while you watch. Also check whether Background App Refresh lets other data-hungry apps run in the meantime.
My mobile data runs out fast
An hour of live HD uses roughly 4 to 5 gigabytes. Away from home, choose a lower quality if the app has that option. To be safe, turn off mobile data for the player in the iOS settings so it can only stream over Wi-Fi.
Smooth on the phone, stuttering over AirPlay
With AirPlay the picture crosses your Wi-Fi twice: once to the phone, once to the TV. Connect the Apple TV with a network cable, or better, install the player on the Apple TV itself instead of mirroring.
The app wants a payment or an activation
Some players charge a one-off fee for the app itself. That money goes to the app maker, not to IPTVnu, and it adds no channels. In doubt about where a payment request comes from? Ask us on WhatsApp first. We never ask you to pay inside an app.
