Where to find your MAC address (and Device Key)

Activating a player often starts with a MAC address, and IBO Player wants a Device Key on top. This page is a lookup list: find your device or app below and you will see whether the code sits in a menu, on a sticker or on the app's start screen.

Two codes, two jobs

They are often requested together, which is why they get mixed up.

A MAC address is the permanent hardware address of anything that connects to a network. It is written as six pairs of characters with colons in between, for example 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX. Every networked device has one, and reinstalling an app does not change it.

A Device Key only exists in IBO Player. The app creates it as a one-time check during activation. You won't be asked for one in TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro.

Find your brand or app in the list.

IBO Player (app)

You don't need to search. As soon as the app is installed, its start screen shows the MAC address and the Device Key. The IBO Player guide tells you what to do with them.

Samsung Smart TV

Open Settings > General > Network > Network Status. The MAC address shown is the one for the connection in use, cable or Wi-Fi. Setting up the TV itself? Use the Samsung Smart TV guide.

LG Smart TV

It depends on the webOS version. Try Settings > All Settings > General > Network > Network Status, or scroll to the bottom of the settings for 'TV Information'. For the full setup, see the LG Smart TV guide.

Amazon Fire TV Stick

Open Settings > My Fire TV > About and check the Network entry. Older sticks use Settings > System > About > Network instead. The rest of the setup is in the Fire TV Stick guide.

Android TV, Google TV or an IPTV box

Open Settings > Device Preferences > About and check under Status or Network. Brands shuffle this menu a little, so the wording may differ. More in the Android TV and IPTV box guide.

MAG set-top box

Turn the box over. The MAC address is on a sticker underneath or on the back, not in a menu. How to use it is explained in the Formuler and MAG guide.

Formuler box

Also on a sticker under the box. That sticker often lists a 'Formuler ID' as well as the MAC address, and some services ask for that ID rather than the MAC address. Not sure which one you need? Compare both with what the box shows on its own login screen.

Stuck with an activation? Send us the MAC address on WhatsApp. It is not secret the way a password is, and it is the first thing we look at when an activation fails.
